About Us

This love affair with dogs runs generations deep...

I'm a Responsible, Ethical Preservation Breeder - promoting responsible pet ownership...

Picture
In the current age there are many "anti-breeder" movements & to a point I agree - Puppy factories, BYB's & unethical breeders... We all want to see the end of animal cruelty - however, do not tar all of us with the same brush.

The "Adopt Don't Shop" phrase has also worked its way in to the spotlight - whilst adopting  is admirable, it aims to make people feel guilty for buying an animal. Responsible owners should be able to do what they want and not be shamed for it, no matter the choice - the same goes for decent breeders, we won't ever allow our pups to go up for adoption, if we can help it.

I am a responsible, ethical, ANKC registered breeder - I am a custodian of my breeds, for their long lived preservation.
I strive to breed the best quality, health and temperament in all of my dogs & I work with other breeders who have the same ideals at heart.
I compete with my dogs to ensure they are capable and hardworking. I also look for the best of homes and if for what ever reason, they can no longer keep one of my dogs, I take them back.

I can provide you with references, health records, history of my lines and you are welcome to visit me anytime.

There are also the numerous code of ethics breeders must also adhere to, as should EVERY animal owner, Including government legislation.

Generally an ethical breeder is registered with an ANKC state body as well as their local council.
Please keep this in mind when searching for your next forever pet.

The ANKC is the Primary registry in Australia and the only recognized international purebred registry. You can see more on the ANKC below.

What is the Australian National Kennel Council (ANKC)?

If you are looking to buy a puppy, please be aware that there is only one official Australian National Kennel Council register.
It is often abbreviated to ANKC.

Unfortunately, when breeds become popular, it attracts a lot of new Breeders, who try to breed dogs that are not to standard and sell them as “rare” for a lot more money than they are worth.

This however, has now seen the emerge of several new “registries” where these Fad breeders now issue papers for the dogs.  These are ineligible to be placed on the Official Australian Registry (the ANKC)

This is confusing for people when they are looking to buy a dog as the fad Breeders advertise their litters now with having 'papers'.
Whilst they may provide 'papers' they are not from the Official Australian National Canine Registry.

Please be aware that only dogs and puppies registered on the ANKC registries are eligible to be shown in conformation shows (main register) or associate registries for dog sports in Australia and the world.
The ANKC has a list of Official Judges who have studied and passed exams that take many years to complete. These judges are also eligible to judge worldwide at most major dog shows.

No other registry in Australia has World-approved judges who are able to judge at either breed specialty or all breeds shows.

The ANKC is THE ONLY Official Breed Registry in Australia.
Be sure you are buying a puppy from a genuine member of the ANKC.

My  Personal Story:

Nabihah was founded by me in 2001 I was just 11 years old... I bred my first litter when I was 13 years.

Since my mum had dogs most of her life, I was bred into the industry. I grew up with dogs and started showing as soon as I was about 7yrs old.

My mum bred and showed Rhodesian Ridgebacks under the prefix "Skiska".
The RR's were nice but I always enjoyed seeing whippets in the ring and thus we bought our first whippet- a small black brindle bitch "Oakway Love Nkisses" from Jill Marks.
We showed her with a little bit of success, but we decided to breed her and have our first Nabihah litter, the chosen sire was Ch. Taejaan Ina Tuxedo, a couple of years after that we bred her to Ch. Countrywinds Whoze Ever (Imp USA), without a huge amount of luck we decided to do some more research.

By this time we had a few whippets come and gone, but then Jill Marks offered us the bitch Ch. Oakway Southern Belle. This is when it all started to change, we showed her successfully and then bred her to Ch. Marchpast The Emblem (Imp UK) and produced the ever increasingly popular Ch. Nabihah Numero Oono ET. However since he was an only child, the mating was repeated, and Ch. Nabihah Still The One ET was the result (also an only child).
These two boys have been my first champions, my first stud dogs, my first two Endurance Titled and are still competing successfully in the specialty and all breeds rings, since then, I have never looked back.
